Early in the original Evil Dead film, there’s a creepy scene where Cheryl is drawing the clock on the wall; the suddenly clock freezes (at 5:52), she hears a faint voice whispering “join us”, and her hand acts possessed — scribbling a sketch of what we later learn to be the Necromicon. This scene was quite memorable (and heebie-jeebie-inducing) as one of the early indicators that things were about to ‘start’ to go downhill, so the clock works perfectly as the Start button. Spooky’s cabinet art design is perfect for this button — because the art shows the interior walls of the cabin!
The button is available in three different versions, all of which are frozen at 5:52.
1) Full clock assembly, which is printed using specialized wood-infused filament to give the clock frame an authentic wood-like look & feel. It’s beautiful and is the closest representation of the scene in the movie. This version is printed using mid-layer filament changes, fusing all parts together (wood-colored frame and pendulum rod, interior black face, and brass-colored border & pendulum). The clock frame assembly has a smooth flat back face, which sits against the cabinet after installation. The assembly is pre-attached to the button housing. NOTE: This version of the button will cover some or all of the “Join us!” text on the cabinet. Photos will be obtained in the near future to determine just how much is covered.
2) Border & pendulum version — this version uses the same wood-infused filament to print the pendulum rod, plus the brass-colored clock border & pendulum. These are also fused together with mid-layer filament changes, and this assembly is also pre-attached to the button housing (with the pendulum in the appropriate frozen position) . The border and pendulum sit against the face of the cabinet. This may be preferred for those who don’t wish to cover the ‘Join us!’ text, but obviously is less true to the clock in the film.
3) Clock face only — this version still includes the button housing assembly (to step up from the smaller, recessed button that Spooky uses).
