Gotta go fast, but not without some rings — collect your first one when you hit the Start button!
This gorgeous start button features a 3D shiny metallic gold ring surrounding ‘Start’ in a Sonic-esque font.
This button is also available with a clear resin fill in the center of ring, filled up evenly with the top edge of the ring for a smooth surface finish. This option allows for personal preference — some prefer to feel the whole torus depth of the ring, but others prefer it filled & smooth, so you have your choice!
FAQ: What’s that small line on the left side of the ring? A: in 3D printing, all layers must start & end somewhere, and shiny metallic filaments are particularly sensitive to this process and will show a surface mark at this location. As such, it is best to arrange these start/stop points in a line (called a ‘seam’) where they aren’t visible — but unfortunately, round objects have no place to hide it. Numerous tests were run to determine the most subtle placement of the seam. It visibility is very dependent on the viewing angle — when viewed from a standard player distance/height, or when lit up, the seam is not very noticeable. What catches your eye most is the beautiful gleam of light reflecting off the ring surface!
Please review the pictures to help decide your preferred style. This design was initially created to be used on Ryan McQuaid’s award-winning Sonic Spinball homebrew. His preferred version was resin-filled, as shown in the photos. Note this older version had yellow backing behind the blue lettering; the current version uses gold backing to add shine and match the ring.
Pictures of it installed on the new JJP Sonic game, coming soon!
